On November 21, 2024, Bratislava will become the meeting point for leading experts, scientists, economists, policymakers, and other key stakeholders focusing on addictions, mental health, and related approaches.
The AddictCZ/SK conference, organized by the Institute for Rational Addiction Policies, Slovakia’s OZ Prima, and the Harm Reduction Academy, will provide a platform for sharing the latest knowledge and finding solutions to reduce dependency and improve public health in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and across the European Union.
AddictCZ/SK builds on last year’s Brussels conference, AddictEU, which addressed addictions at a European level and highlighted the need for deeper understanding and alignment of national approaches across EU Member States. AddictCZ/SK takes the discussion a step further by showcasing best practices from the Czech Republic and Slovakia and creating a space for sharing experiences and exploring innovative solutions at the European level.
One of the key moments of the program will be the panel discussion titled “Regulating Responsibly: Policy Approaches to Reducing Dependency on Licit Drugs”, featuring Dr. Ladislav Csémy, president of the Harm Reduction Academy. This panel will focus on the regulation and prevention of dependency on licit substances such as alcohol, tobacco, and certain pharmaceuticals, including hypnotics and sedatives. The discussion will provide insights into best practices in regulation, harm reduction approaches, monitoring programs, and other innovative strategies.
The conference will also explore other critical topics, such as combating illicit drugs, the interplay between mental health and addiction, and intelligent regulation of psychoactive substances. These discussions aim to connect scientific insights with political practice to formulate concrete recommendations for improving both national and EU-level policies.
AddictCZ/SK takes place just one month after the prestigious Lisbon Addictions 2024 conference, offering a unique opportunity to build on European debates and deliver practical solutions for addressing addiction issues.
